Puppy Power

Do you know anyone who got a puppy during Quarantine? I do! Quite a few people I know actually got puppies over the past several months. I wasn't one of them. I was the crazy lady (that already had 1 dog), that decided to get 2 puppies for Christmas - one for my son and one for my daughter. (But actually both for me đ) Why do you think so many people decided to adopt furry friends into their families the past several months? These furry companions made great distractions and provided unconditional love at a time when we could all use it the most. In fact, these furry friends often forced us to get out of our pajamas and venture outside for a breath of fresh air. Taking them for a walk for a bathroom break was a great excuse to take a break from another zoom or homeschool lesson on google. Isolation from friends and family can cause one to get lonely - but with a furry friend or two (or 3 in my case), you are sure to be less lonely. Zoom happy hours and binge-watching Tiger King can only help you beat the boredom for so long. Although I didn't get my puppies during quarantine, being cooped up in the house gave me a lot of time to train them - they sit, shake hands, walk nicely on a leash, and are potty trained. In fact, I think they will be really depressed when life goes back to being close to normal again - the kids back in school and when working from home isn't the new normal anymore. (Or they may be ready for a break from all the humans.... who knows!) Baby boom on the horizon? Maybe.... Puppies and positivity during the pandemic? No Doubt! I can't think of a better type of self-care than unconditional love. đ¶
